Zappanale 18 @ Bad Doberan
As every year in August :o)
3-5. august 2007
THURSDAY:
As usual, for many fans began the Zappanale already on Thursday evening in Bad Doberan around and in the Kamp Theater. It was a documentary about Wild Man Fischer and afterwards performed Christophe Godin.
For the first time a stage was built in the form of a truck in front of the Kamp Theater. After Christophe Godin played the Captain Beefheart Project (Chen Unst), which was accompanied by several multimedia installations.
FRIDAY:
Don Preston with his Akashic Ensemble welcomed the visitors on Friday afternoon. Indestructible, one could only say. The unconventional and abundant sound of the band rose sometimes in funky vocal excursions.
After the Akashic Ensemble and the regular break performed the British Funksters Monty & The Butchers up for 90 minutes on stage with their loud sharp-edged rock.
The following Act was one of the highlights of the festival: Mörglbl! The trio played avant-rock, Steve Vai, AC / DC interpreted in the Brazilian style and Deep Purple in subtle jazz. With plenty of humor, the trio played crazy. Their funny grimaces, gestures and movements on stage were not only fun, but also showed the joy of making music on their own. Godin is a comedian, a gorgeous gifted guitarist who knows no stylistic barriers between metal, prog and jazz.
Immediately afterwards performed I Virtuosi Dal Pianeta Talento, virtuos Zappa experts. Their interpretations were so complex inspirad mostly by Zappa’s ’70s jazz-rock. The improvisations of the 12-member ensembles were radical and uncompromising wtih avantgarde solos. Bass, brass and marimba, guitar and drums as well as the keyboards were burning the stage.
So two highlights one after the other. And then came the third. Ike Willis Project / Object without Ike Willis on the stage, because he got involved in a traffic accident. Napoleon Murphy Brock, as a guest was on stage and let splash continually his charm along with his high energy.
Next was Trigon, as the last band of this first evening. They play as they say “Power-Space-Kraut-jam-rock”.
SATURDAY:
The start was made be the good-humored Jim Cohen, highnoon at the Kamp Theater in Bad Doberan. Mr. Jim then took Dr. Dot on stage and held an interview with her, as we all know, has made a name as a masseuse.
SUNDAY:
